On the Bench

Dust making area.  The workhorse TW-90 next to my trusty Pheer 454 and a benchtop drill press.  Chips and dust!

Stoned.  Falcon Tool N class stones for the win!

Tapering tangs.  Both aesthetically pleasing and performance enhancing by shifting the point of balance of a knife in the hand.  I taper almost every tang.

Working on this batch in S90V and M4.

Came up with this handle scale glue up jig.  makes glueing liners to scale material much simpler.

Why do custom knives cost so much? Hours of this...

After an hour or 2, finally at a clean 320 grit.  More to go.  This was M398 heat treated to 64 HRC.

A doodle becomes a sketch.  A sketch becomes a pattern.  A pattern becomes a blank!  

You never know when the creative notion will strike.  Sketched the general idea at 9pm, refined it the next morning, rendered it on to steel that afternoon.
